New and events
Every year, Stars Foundation organises a few fund-raising events to provide money and resources for people with cerebral palsy.
For example, we hold a Christmas Family Concert, which is attended by many celebrities. We have also held Quiz Nights and a Barn Dance. We organise golf classics with keen golfing stars such as Eric Sykes, Jimmy Hill, Steve Davis, Sir Henry Cooper and Jimmy Tarbuck. Another regular appearance on the calendar is the London Marathon, where enthusiastic runners raise much needed sponsorship money.
Through activities like these, we provide essential funding and continue to give grants where they are needed most.
Dame Vera celebrates her 90th birthday at gala dinner
On 20 March 2007 the charity celebrated the 90th birthday of the President Dame Vera Lynn DBE LLD by holding an exclusive birthday dinner in her honour in the elegant setting of Hertford House, home of the Wallace Collection.
Annual hog roast and dinner
On Saturday 4 October 2008 Stars Foundation held a Barn Dance & Hog Roast at Matfield Village Hall.
Stars Foundation took the opportunity to present a Liberator, a communication aid, to 21 year old Anna McNaughton.
Marathon story
Stars Foundation for Cerebral Palsy is pleased to announce that its runners for the London Marathon on Sunday 25 April 2010 will be Dan Brent, Thomas Groarke, Marie-Anne Patterson, Chris Spencer, Eric Stephen and April Targa. Sponsor them individually by going to Just Giving and enter their names.
In 2009 our runners raised enough funds to purchase a communication aid for a six year old boy with cerebral palsy.
Please help this year’s runners and support Stars Foundation by sponsoring them.
Winter concerts
Over the years our celebrated Winter Concerts, of music and readings for the festive season, have become not only one of our most successful fund raising events but a family occasion for our supporters, members and the wider public to understand and further the work of Stars Foundation.
Celebrity golf days
Stars Foundation for Cerebral Palsy holds an annual golf day, most recently at Sunningdale in October 2007. Companies or individuals are invited to play in teams of four, including a celebrity player.
Over the last few years our days have been hosted by Eric Sykes CBE, Jimmy Hill OBE and Steve Davis OBE and they have been joined by our Chairman Derek Underwood MBE and their numerous friends
